October 2016- NOISES OFF – OPERA –MUDDY MUTTS

BEAT THE  BLITZ – GET A SHELTER & “NOG’S LITTLE HELPER”

Firework season is on us again with  lots of you being frightened by loud bangs in the evening. It seems to go on longer every year and  is becoming like the The Blitz – or so my human Paddy tells me – and he’s old enough to know.

But do not despair HELP IS AT HAND!  Ask your human to build you a den so that you have somewhere safe and comfortable to go  - nice quiet corner (or under the kitchen table like WW2), soft furnishings, the Home Service  turned up comfortingly loud on the wireless,  black-out with curtains drawn, food and drink close at hand – you get the idea. Even better is that your human can now get a “special medicine” (Nog’s Little Helper”)  from your vet that allows you to have a good snooze in your den. Goes in the mouth, you have a bit of a kip while all the noise is going on,and you to wake up a couple  hours later with no hangover when the coast is clear.  Result. My Spaniel friend Beetle isn’t frightened by fireworks any more – he’s gone deaf.

NOISES OFF – NOG’S  OPERATIC DEBUT

Talking of  loud noises,  my human Paddy is taking  part in an opera called  “ La Bone” (or is it “ La Boheme”?) on 5th and 6th November at Stowe. Apparently he is singing one of the roles as M Benoit the Landlord and there is a rumour that I will be making a guest appearance “as myself”  in the street scene in Act 3.  No problem for me as I have done it before in the musical Guys and Dolls. GOOD NEWS -  none of your Italian Spinone it’s pure British Bulldog - IN ENGLISH!  If you would like to come and see me tickets are  available at the practice.

SCRUB UP NICELY WITH A NOG WASH

Autumn is the time for long and preferably very muddy walks. Even I, with my long legs, short coat and graceful running style get a bit soiled at this time of year. Beetle does a good impression of “Pig-Pen” from Charlie Brown.  In order to return to our usual pristine condition we avail ourselves of a warm bath and blow-dry at the Cherry Lane DIY Dog Wash  (well my human DIY’s it himself - not me of course) – open 7 days a week and extremely good value at £8.00 for 10 minutes. Paddy can get us both done in one cycle if he gets on with it. Don’t forget to bring your towel!

That's all for now folks, I will be back in touch before Christmas, not long now........
