Dental Care

Dental and gum disease in cats and dogs is caused by the same disease process as in humans. Dental plaque builds up and hardens into tartar which in turn provides a rough surface for even more plaque to stick to. This can then become secondarily infected resulting in painful and loose teeth. In the short term, this causes bad breath and discomfort for your cat or dog. In the long term, bacteria can enter the bloodstream resulting in disease to other organs such as heart, lungs and kidneys.

Your dog or cat will be given a condition score from 1-5 based on the health of their teeth and gums. We offer fixed price dental options for pets with a score of 3 or below. Please make an appointment to have your cat or dog assessed. All the nurses assist with routine dental hygiene procedures at the surgery and will also advise you on the most appropriate home care to keep your pet's mouth healthy in the long term.

Healthcare Advice

Our nurses are available to give free advice on the care of your pet. We have a wide range of effective products available to help you keep your pet healthy, and we will be able to help you select the most appropriate products for you and your pet.

They are qualified to discuss your pet's nutritional requirements and for those animals who need to lose weight our nurses will provide the help and support you need to achieve your target.

Puppies and Kittens

When you register a new puppy or kitten, in addition to your appointment with the vet you will be offered an appointment with a nurse to discuss any concerns you may have regarding the care and feeding of your pet. They can also advise on flea and worm control and show you the best way to apply or administer products.

Puppy Parties

Puppy parties are run approximately once a month to give you and your puppy the opportunity to meet other puppies and their owners, and talk about dog care in a relaxed environment. Puppies benefit by becoming more familiar with the surgery and you have the chance to see behind the scenes at the practice.

Please contact us if you would like to book.

Routine Procedures

The nurses are able to carry out routine procedures such as nail clipping, emptying anal glands, suture removal and microchip implantation. If you are unsure whether you need to see the nurse or veterinary surgeon, please discuss your requirements with the receptionist.

Surgical Cases

If your pet comes to the practice for surgery you will be given an admission appointment with one of the nurses. This will give you an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have and request additional procedures. They will also be able to keep you updated on your pet's progress during their stay and will be available to help advise you on home care once they are discharged.
