Dental care, treatments for dogs and cats

Dental and gum disease in cats and dogs is caused by the same disease process as in humans. Dental plaque builds up and hardens into tartar which in turn provides a rough surface for even more plaque to stick to. This can then become secondarily infected resulting in painful and loose teeth.

In the short term this causes bad breath and discomfort for you cat or dog, in the long term it as well as ongoing pain bacteria can enter the bloodstream resulting in disease to other organs such as heart, lungs and kidneys.

Your dog or cat will be given a condition score  from 1-5 based on the health of their teeth and gums. We offer fixed price dental options for pets with a score of 3 or below. Please  make an appointment to  have your cat or dog assessed. All the nurses assist with routine dental hygiene procedures at the surgery and will also advise you on the most appropriate home care to keep your pet's mouth healthy in the long term.
